The 2022 general elections in Lebanon revealed an increasing support for non-sectarian political parties and independent candidates. The largely expressed mistrust in old political elites is often justified by corruption practices and clientelism. The current economic meltdown in the country is also often perceived as a direct consequence of political corruption and mismanagement.
Against this background, a number of CSOs are pushing forward in an attempt to reinvent political engagement beyond sectarian lines.
