Security challenges coupled with mistrust in political parties have led to youth noticeable disengagement from conventional political life in Iraq. in this context, a number of both formal as well as non-conventional initiatives were put in place to encourage youth to play a more active role in the democratic building of their country. Evidences from the ground suggest that similar to other countries in the region, youth in Iraq are finding new ways to mobilize.
